    ACADEMIC COACHING 

    POSITION SUMMARY

    This is a faculty position directly reporting to the Dean of Nursing.  Plans, teaches, directs, and supervises all student learning experiences in the classroom following the curriculum of the college approved by the Accreditation Bureau.

    RESPONSIBILITY

    • Developing and leading the Academic Coaching program’s marketing and communication plan to engage students in academic coaching
    • Provide academic coaching (time management, goal setting, learning strategies, ) to diverse student populations
    • Create an environment favorable to learning and personal growth
    • Support teachers with instruction management of students
    • Utilize strong classroom management techniques and report escalated behaviors to the Administration
    • Lead students in daily advisory sessions to monitor student academic progress
    • Meet with students and parents to discuss challenges and obstacles engaging in the curriculum
    • Set and monitor personal goals with students
    • Motivate students through effective incentives and monitoring strategies
    • Tutor students when needed

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND EDUCATION:

    • Teaching experience in a Post-Secondary College or University preferred
    • Knowledge of working with diverse populations
    • Ability to prioritize, make decisions in complex situations, be flexible and produce reports when needed
    • Strong computer and technology skills, software experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in teaching or school administration
    • Master's degree in Management or a related educational field but not required.
    • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working in a service-oriented environment, teaching or university setting

    ORAL COMMUNICATION 

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The role of the faculty is to effectively communicate with the students and help them achieve their educational goals.

     As an Oral Communication Instructor, your core job is to assist students at all stages of the oral presentation process to help build their speaking confidence and competence. You get to meet with students from a variety of academic disciplines to brainstorm, organize, and rehearse oral presentations.  The types of speaking-related issues that come up frequently include structure and clarity of message, delivery, voice, pacing, non-verbal communication, effective use of visual aids, interviewing skills, and overcoming speech anxiety.

    • Maintains records of student progress and performance, attendance and grades.
    • Prepares, administers, and grades, written and practical examinations during course of study.
    • Devises written lesson plans and implements them through lecture, demonstration, discussion, etc.
    • Discusses with students their concerns and/or problems directly or indirectly related to learning experience.
    • Is responsible to assist the student to develop an understanding of values, attitudes, and communication.
