Health Educator is responsible for developing and designing health education programs meant to increase community awareness and knowledge. Conducts needs assessments and keeps up-to-date on changes in health care technology to keep program material current. Being a Health Educator develops, coordinates, and disseminates educational resources and materials. May provide health education outreach and consultation. Additionally, Health Educator requires a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Health Educator work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     Up to $10,000 hiring bonus for eligible full-time external hires that meet required qualifications and conditions for payment.

    Hours: Full Time (40 Hours Weekly) Day Shift

    Responsible for both hospital and unit based education program planning, development and implementation. This includes, but is not limited to: validating required educational needs and competencies for staff; developing training programs and processes; oversight of preceptorship program; ensuring staff education records are maintained; and, keeping leadership team informed of staff education needs. Able to teach courses that are required for competency (i.e. ACLS, PALS, etc). Maintains competence at the expert level in clinical practice. Flexibility in scheduling is required for meeting the educational needs of staff on all shifts.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree - Nursing.
    • Alaska Registered Nurse License upon hire.
    • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.
    • Certification within area of practice within 6 months of hire.
    • 3 years - Experience in a clinical setting within the area of practice.
