Health Educator is responsible for developing and designing health education programs meant to increase community awareness and knowledge. Conducts needs assessments and keeps up-to-date on changes in health care technology to keep program material current. Being a Health Educator develops, coordinates, and disseminates educational resources and materials. May provide health education outreach and consultation. Additionally, Health Educator requires a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Health Educator work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     Overview
    Nurse Educators provide educational experiences that facilitate the promotion of competent nursing practice and quality patient care. They facilitate the orientation for new nursing employees and assist in their assimilation into a new role. Nurse Educators support nursing staff members in their efforts in knowledge and skill acquisition and professional development.
    Qualifications
    Education/Experience
    Minimum Required:
    • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing or related field.
    • Three (3) years Nursing Practice experience in a clinical setting.
    Preferred:
    • Master’s degree in Nursing or related field
    • Previous teaching experience

    License/Certification
    Minimum Required:
    • Current New York State Registered Nurse License
    • CPR within 3 months of hire
    Preferred:
    • Professional nursing certification in Professional Development
    • Professional certification in another nursing area
