    Compensation and Benefits


    Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,344 - $5,000 per month

    Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,344 - $8,385 per month

    • This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.

    The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Eligible employees are also able to participate in the fee waiver education program. A summary of benefit information can be found here.


    Job Summary

    Under general direction and reporting to the Director of Wellness Services, the incumbent develops, plans and organizes health promotion, health education and wellness programs to improve health knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of students. The incumbent will primarily develop, implement, and evaluate mental health programs, events and activities but will also support other Wellness Services initiatives. The incumbent also leads presentations and trainings.

    Day to day work is performed independently with general instruction.


    Key Qualifications

    • Assess needs and establish or recommend program priorities and goals and develop plans to achieve goals.
    • Collect, compile, chart, and analyze data pertinent to health education program planning.
    • Plan, organize, conduct or oversee a variety of health education program and activities including discussion groups and workshops.
    • Develop educational materials and media such as pamphlets, audio and video materials, and electronic media; present ideas and information accurately, effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
    • Ability to organize materials, information and staff in a systematic way to optimize efficiency.
    • Use computer and web-based information technology systems as a resource for research and providing health education programs.

    Preferred Skills:

    • Master’s degree in public health, health promotion, psychology, or related field
    • Experience working on a college/university campus
    • Experience in developing and implementing mental health education programs
    • Two or more years of experience as a health educator or organizing and conducting educational programs and activities on various health topics that will contribute to the improvement of health by bringing about change in understanding, attitude, and behavior
    • Experience with motivational interviewing and bystander intervention programs
    • Experience delivering suicide prevention trainings

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in public health, health promotion, psychology or equivalent in an approved program in health education or a related health field.
    • One year of progressively responsible health education experience or combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.
