Health Educator is responsible for developing and designing health education programs meant to increase community awareness and knowledge. Conducts needs assessments and keeps up-to-date on changes in health care technology to keep program material current. Being a Health Educator develops, coordinates, and disseminates educational resources and materials. May provide health education outreach and consultation. Additionally, Health Educator requires a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Health Educator work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Purpose: Provide ALFA’s services and promote our mission to the larger community. Provide compassionate, judgment free risk reduction counseling, rapid testing and harm reduction services.
Job Summary: Responsible for providing HIV/STI/HCV counseling and testing, linkage to care services and coordination of referral services into other appropriate programs to groups or individuals, assistance with the harm reduction program and other tasks in office. Assistance with outreach at regular HIV education testing sites and at special events is also required.
Due to COVID-19 precautions, employees will be expected to follow safety protocols regarding cleaning, social distancing and wearing a face covering when deemed necessary.
