Health Educator is responsible for developing and designing health education programs meant to increase community awareness and knowledge. Conducts needs assessments and keeps up-to-date on changes in health care technology to keep program material current. Being a Health Educator develops, coordinates, and disseminates educational resources and materials. May provide health education outreach and consultation. Additionally, Health Educator requires a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Health Educator work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Chertow Diabetes Center, including coordinating the planning and evaluation of the program each year, participating in the updating of the curriculum of the program, providing oversight of the performance of the program instructors and resource personnel, and serving as a liaison for the program's staff, the advisory committee, and faculty administration. Performs related work as required. Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing, nutrition, food service, or community health. Master's degree preferred. Experience: Must hold a current certification as a Certified Diabetes Educator or Registered Dietitian. Two or more years experience in a healthcare setting as dietitian/diabetes educator preferred.

About Huntington, West Virginia
Huntington is in the southwestern corner of West Virginia, on the border with Ohio, on the southern bank of the Ohio River, at the confluence with the Guyandotte River.
