Health Educator jobs in Louisiana

The Health Educator will support the Community Engagement and Health Equity office of Campus Health’s community initiatives and have a fundamental understanding of effective health promotion strategies and initiatives. This position will coordinate campus education and outreach programming to enhance health and support student learning and success. This is a PRN position with some weekend and evening hours required. This position also may require participation in off campus programs. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Extensive knowledge of current and emerging college health issues, environmental management/prevention strategies, health behavior change theories and ecological framework, and evidence-based practice.

• Oral and written communication skills that can contribute to effective collaboration with students/faculty/staff.
• High level of organizational skills and proven record of delivering quality results in a timely manner. Ability to manage projects and deliver results.
• Ability to work successfully with a diverse community and provide services from a non-judgmental perspective.
• Experience using electronic health records and computerized medical programs. Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records.
• In all services, ensures compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
• Stays current on developments in the field of college health.

• Skills in providing exemplary patient care and customer service including maintaining confidentiality and being reliably available to patients when they seek care or advice. Required Education and/or Experience • Bachelor’s degree or high school diploma/equivalent and 6 years of directly related work experience.
• 1 year of work experience in health promotion or related field. Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor’s in Public Health, Health Education, Health Promotion, Higher Education, or other health/education related field.

• Two years’ experience in health promotion planning, implementation and evaluation in higher education.
• Demonstrated leadership skills that facilitate effective communication and interpersonal relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
• Demonstrated ability to utilize a variety of health communication strategies and to leverage technology and social media to reach target audience.
• Excellent computer skills. Must be proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and experienced in desktop publishing and SPSS, willing to learn new programs.
