Health Educator is responsible for developing and designing health education programs meant to increase community awareness and knowledge. Conducts needs assessments and keeps up-to-date on changes in health care technology to keep program material current. Being a Health Educator develops, coordinates, and disseminates educational resources and materials. May provide health education outreach and consultation. Additionally, Health Educator requires a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Health Educator work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Summary:
Provides CPR classes and facilitates the documentation process. Provides education programs to groups regarding lifestyle changes and behavior modification. Participates in health screenings and provides health and lifestyle counseling to screening participants.
Job Duties:
- The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.
- Administer CPR classes and health promotion programs for all age groups.
- Maintains CPR instruction resources and mannequins and written materials.
- Organizes the educational programs.
- Motivates the individuals to maintain healthy lifestyle choices especially in the area of smoking cessation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor or associate degree in health promotion, nursing or exercise science. Required
· Certification as a CPR/First Aid instructor Required
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
