Health Educator is responsible for developing and designing health education programs meant to increase community awareness and knowledge. Conducts needs assessments and keeps up-to-date on changes in health care technology to keep program material current. Being a Health Educator develops, coordinates, and disseminates educational resources and materials. May provide health education outreach and consultation. Additionally, Health Educator requires a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Health Educator work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Function of Work:
To assist the WIC (Women, Infant and Children) professional staff by providing basic information to program participants. Duties include: provide basic information to WIC participants, use of food instruments, vendor monitoring, outreach, clerical duties, conducts blood samples in lab.
Location of Work:
Office of Public Health, WIC Program, Health Unit- Region 8
MUST HAVE:
One year of clerical, health related customer service, food service, or extension service work. College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of 30 hours for the one year of experience.
Vocational training in dietetic assistant curriculum at a recognized vocational school will substitute for the required experience on a month for month basis.
