Health Educator is responsible for developing and designing health education programs meant to increase community awareness and knowledge. Conducts needs assessments and keeps up-to-date on changes in health care technology to keep program material current. Being a Health Educator develops, coordinates, and disseminates educational resources and materials. May provide health education outreach and consultation. Additionally, Health Educator requires a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Health Educator work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Associate’s Degree in public health or closely related field; AND one (1) year of health education experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires successful completion of a background check; must possess or have the ability to obtain a fingerprint clearance card within 3 months of hire; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license is required. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Successful completion of required training program.
Hourly rate for this position has been revised effective 3/4/24.Knowledge of: County policies and procedures; basic health care and community health education as relates to the program(s); health promotion and disease prevention; community resources for appropriate referrals.

Ability to: Read and interpret documents such as policies and procedures; write reports and correspondence; use modern office equipment and computers; lift at least 5 to 25 lbs.; communicate effectively verbally and written; perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking and 20% standing. Working at a computer monitor for extended periods required. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and may have risk of exposure to communicable diseases.
