Health Educator is responsible for developing and designing health education programs meant to increase community awareness and knowledge. Conducts needs assessments and keeps up-to-date on changes in health care technology to keep program material current. Being a Health Educator develops, coordinates, and disseminates educational resources and materials. May provide health education outreach and consultation. Additionally, Health Educator requires a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Health Educator work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
    Cooperatively plans, organizes, provides, and evaluates community education and health education activities.

     

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    • Licensed Vocational Nurse or Bachelors of Arts/Science in the health education social sciences, social work, counseling or health related fields or at least three years of experience in health education is required. 
    • Bilingual ability in English/Spanish is required.  
    • Must have good business etiquette and excellent oral and written communication skills. 
    • Two years member service experience in a managed health care setting is preferred. 
    • Medicaid knowledge is preferred.
