Conducts needs assessments and keeps up-to-date on changes in health care technology to keep program material current. Being a Health Educator develops, coordinates, and disseminates educational resources and materials. May provide health education outreach and consultation. Additionally, Health Educator requires a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Health Educator work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. The CNE utilizes evidenced-based research to support educational offerings and engages in research to advance the profession and improve clinical outcomes. In collaboration with other educators, nurses, physicians and health care professionals, the CNE facilitates learning, functions as a change agent, engages in scholarship and facilitates learning utilizing assessment and evaluation strategies.The CNE role requires an exceptionally strong clinical background and significant clinical expertise. The CNE specializes in the integration of the principles of adult learning in a clinically-based framework and is responsible and accountable for the ongoing development and application of the RWJUH Nursing Divisions Philosophy and Mission and Conceptual Model, Standards of Care and Evidence-Based Nursing Practice to provide patient/family centered care.

    Education:

    Bachelor s degree in nursing required Master s degree in nursing or proof of enrollment with graduation target date preferred,

    Experience:

    Three to five years relevant clinical experience,

    Certifications/Licenses:

    • Current license as a registered professional nurse in the State of New Jersey
    • Certification in clinical specialty
