Summary
The Clinical Informatics Supervisor plays a pivotal role in our healthcare system by leading a team of analysts to optimize patient care and outcomes through technology. This position is responsible for overseeing the Clinical Informatics team- providing guidance, coordination, and supervision to ensure efficient operations. The Clinical Informatics Supervisor conducts in-depth analysis of workflows and understands the intricacies of policies, procedures, and constraints across various healthcare domains. This position is an active participant in the Epic EHR application build, test, and support processes, alongside serving as a liaison between our organization and external partners, fostering exemplary customer service and support.
Responsibilities
- Assist Clinical Informatics Director in administering human resource functions including staffing, scheduling, orientation, training and performance evaluation; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance
- Coordinates with nursing, providers and other clinical groups to assess end user needs in regard to the electronic health record and other health Information Technology systems
- Works with users in clinical areas to identify service gaps or workflow issues and propose creative solutions to deliver value. Advises on alternatives and implications of new or revised computer systems/applications technology
- Plans and coordinates the analysis, design, and testing of clinical projects
- Coordinates recommendations for application improvements
- Acts as module administrator for various functionalities within Epic EHR
- Serves as the point of escalation for end-user issues after the Service Desk for Epic incidents and requests
- Responsible for escalating issues and requests to third-party support when appropriate; collaborates and coordinates with third party support as needed
- Provides in depth analytic results and recommendations to customers
- Handles complex requests (i.e. evaluating new workflow proposals or new system integration) from business and clinical leaders
- Collects, analyzes and presents information and makes concise recommendations to customers involving simple and complex problems
- Leads and proactively identifies resolutions to business and clinical needs
- Leads small to medium size projects in order to meet business and clinical goals/needs within the organization and to ensure that they are completed in a timely manner
- Attends various IT and administrative meetings to obtain information and provide status reports
- Acts as the specialist on business and clinical matters that affect individual departments and/or the organization as a whole
- Provides feedback for staff performance in a timely fashion within human resources guidelines
- Promotes effective communication through body language, verbal, written, and listening skills
- Proactively anticipates needs and issues , develops action plans, implements course correct and monitors implementation to ensure problems do not go unattended
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Nursing Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in clinical care setting
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience using Epic EHR
- Compassionate, highly nuanced communicator equally able to inspire as to navigate conflict resolution
- Proven experience as a highly organized self-starter and solutions-oriented problem solver with the ability to handle a variety of tasks independently and efficiently.
Preferred
- Board certification in specific specialty; active and unrestricted licensure to practice medicine within the State of Nevada; OR Current and unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) through the Nevada State Board of Nursing
- Epic Certifications
- Experience managing workflow in both hospital and clinic settings
