Health Informatics Director directs an organization's clinical biostatistics or health informatics department. Oversees the analysis, management and performance of health information data to aid patient care.     POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Director of Informatics works with all departments of Centennial. This talented leader will work cross-functionally with many teams including: Clinical/Medical, Finance, Information Technologies (IT), Security, Human Resources (HR), Compliance, and others working with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) on prioritization of work. Specifically, this position meets with staff to determine data and reporting needs and how to meet those needs. This requires knowledge of healthcare operations, business processes, computer science, and IT. This position will help oversee implementation of software systems (i.e., Electronic Health Records (EHR), and integrations with other Software as a Services (SaaS) to collect, transfer and store information in order to create reports for healthcare, financial data and other data pulled from electronic records. Data from a variety of systems is pulled into a data warehouse. For this to be successful, data hygiene across data sources is key. This position oversees database management of a data warehouse to make the data accessible to the right people at the right time through the most effective and efficient mode of delivery. 


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Strategy & Planning:

    • Oversees data hygiene across multiple databases/platforms used by multiple branches but establishing and maintaining standardized and consistent data dictionaries across multiple platforms to the maximum extent possible.
    • Reviews and analyzes existing applications effectiveness and efficiency, and develops strategies for improving or evolving these systems – drives continual service improvements
    • Oversees creating Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Dashboards for organization as requested to drive change and showcase transformations
    • Ensures that Enterprise Applications meet business requirements and sets the company up for future growth
    • Cultivates and disseminates knowledge of applications & usage best practices
    • Creates interlocks between key stakeholder groups

    Enterprise Applications:

    • Responsible for development and maintenance of a Data Warehouse to facilitate reporting on the follow types of data to facilitate ready access by executive management, directors and managers:

          - Clinical

          - Financial

          - Client Feedback

          - Telehealth usage and satisfaction

          - State Reporting as required

    • Understands, builds, and develops reporting systems, dashboards, and/or logic to track metrics that support the key business functions.
    • Analyzes current and proposed IT systems/programs/initiatives to ensure alignment with company long-term strategy
    • Oversees the strategy for Enterprise Applications which includes:

          - Optimization

          - Transformation

          - Speed

          - Scale

    • Works with CIO and IT delivery teams to define and maintain effective Enterprise Applications including but not limited to EHR, SaaS, etc.
    • Streamlines workflows and drives more automation with tools like Crystal Reports Server, MS SQL Server and Tableau.
    • Oversees and guides the activities related to Enterprise Applications (Employee, Client and Analytics) and related systems planning and development, implementation and support
    • Manages third party and custom integration efforts related to these systems; these include but are not limited to EHR, Telehealth, and Client Feedback.
    • Handles sensitive Personal Health Information (PHI) and other sensitive data. 
    • Helps ensure that Centennial Enterprise Applications are HIPAA compliant.
    • Monitors health information management systems and sets the healthcare system's standards for data quality to ensure the integrity, completeness, and accuracy of medical records
    • Oversees EHR/Data teams ensuring that they can respond efficiently and expeditiously to customer requests for information, documentation, and troubleshooting support
    • Evaluates progress and results regarding the group’s activities and goal attainment
    • Serves as the operational reporting subject matter expert and answers data extraction inquiries related to reports and dashboards.
    • Implements data reporting strategies and assures management of reporting and documentation projects and resources.
    • Leverages tools and technologies to drive more automation across the enterprise
    • Ensures proper monitoring is in place
    • Collaborate with business and key IT stakeholders to plan, prioritize, and schedule Enterprise Applications development and enhancement requests
    • Communicate project status to various levels of management

    Organizational Development:

    • Develops a team and drives them towards best practices
    • Shares acquired skills with team members through formal and informal channels
    • Participates regularly in the recruitment of new hires for their area of responsibility

    OTHER:

    • Work in a consistently professional manner at all times, which includes, but is not limited to, treating all clients, staff, guests, and volunteers with dignity and respect. 
    • Implement emergency procedures as necessary. 
    • Participates in meetings, in-services and supervision
    • Performs other job duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Supervises and directs subordinate staff, including assigning and reviewing work, hiring, evaluating, writing and signing work performance evaluations and leave requests.

    Requirements

    EDUCATION:

    Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics preferred; relevant years of experience maybe considered in lieu of degree


    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    Valid driver’s license


    EXPERIENCE:

    • 5 years of experience in IT
    • 3 years of experience with and Electronic Health Record or Electronic Medical Record System.
    • Extensive experience working with spreadsheets, word processing and database software. 
    • Extensive experience working with computer operations, networking, technical support and/or systems administration

    • Ability to work under stressful conditions and flexible hours, which may be required. At times may work remote but must have secure office space available to do so.

    • Demonstrates Proficiency in Verbal, Written and Computer Communication Skills
    • Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality Laws.
    • Excellent computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in spreadsheets, database, and word processing software.

    • Knowledge of EHRs, SQL Databases and scripting as well as software such as Tableau and Crystal Reports.
