     GENERAL SUMMARY
    The Health Care Informatics Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree is an interdisciplinary academic program that combines concepts in healthcare administration, information technology (IT), healthcare data analytics, Electronic Healthcare Records (EHR), performance enhancements, and organizational leadership, with real-world assignments to prepare students for a dynamic career in the field of health informatics. Graduates from this degree can pursue careers in fields such as hospital systems, private clinics, public health organizations, pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, and private healthcare technology corporations.
     
     The program will be primarily delivered online, but it may include other delivery methods including traditional and hybrid.
     
    The Health Care Informatics Faculty Chair/Director is a faculty position with chair duties. Instructional responsibilities include teaching online course therefore, the ideal candidate must command strong teaching skills, creating and modeling a quality-learning environment to support a diverse student population including students with disabilities or special learning needs and effectively structure classes and curriculum to support program and course outcomes. The Faculty Chair/Director is also responsible for developing, evaluating, and implementing the educational components of the Health Care Informatics curriculum. Additional duties include program-level leadership.
     
    This position is a full-time, 9-month faculty position in the Center for Health and Natural Sciences. Faculty have opportunities to teach courses and perform additional duties during the summer semester for additional compensation.

    PRIMARY DUTIES
    All responsibilities of the Faculty Chair/Director are in accordance with the Chair and Faculty handbooks. The Chair and Faculty handbooks are the authoritative guides on specific requirements with regard to chairs roles and responsibilities, teaching assignments, and service. The Faculty Chair/Director is responsible for:

     •       Developing, evaluating, and implementing the educational components of the Healthcare Informatics curriculum,
    •       Teaching courses in the program and possibly other courses within the candidate’s expertise, 
    •       Advising students in the program, 
    •       Creating class schedules, 
    •       Recruiting, hiring, developing, and managing full-time and part-time faculty in the program, 
    •       Managing program budgets and operations, 
    •       Coordinating internship sites,
    •       Facilitating at least two advisory board meetings throughout each academic year, 
    •       Communicating relevant program information to both internal and external stakeholders and maintaining relationships with healthcare industry partners, 
    •       Overseeing the continuous improvement of the program, monitoring program and course curriculum performance against targeted success outcomes and quality standards and preparing annual program reviews and student learning assessments
    •       Monitoring program strategic enrollment management against targeted growth, 
    •       Coordinating and delivering effective student recruitment programs, 
    •       Providing subject matter expertise in support of new and revised curriculum proposals, 
    •       Working with cross-functional teams to ensure program and course content is rigorous, responsive, and relevant to workforce needs, and aligns to defined student competencies, 
    •       Working with educational and industry partners to identify opportunities for expanding the program, and
    •       Fulfilling service duties to the program and the college.Education:         
    Master’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, Health Information Systems, Health Care Administration, Health Data Science, or a related field.
     
    OR
     
    Master’s degree in Cyber Security, Computer Networking, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field and at least three years of industry experience in health informatics, health information technology, informatics, biomedical informatics, clinical epidemiology, public health, healthcare administration, and/or health data science, or related fields
     
    OR
     
    Combination of credentials covering both technology and healthcare, with at least one credential being a graduate-level degree. Technology degrees can be in Cyber Security, Computer Networking, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related major. Healthcare degrees can be in Public Health, Health Sciences, Healthcare Administration, or a degree in a clinical profession.
     
    OR
     
    Master’s degree and industry certification in healthcare information technology such as RHIA, RHIT, CAHIMS, CPHIMS, CHDA, CCA/CCS/CCS-P, etc.)
     
     
    Experience:
     
    • Two (2) years of experience in the healthcare industry with an emphasis in technology roles.

    •   Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision.
    •   Demonstrated ability to work with people from varied backgrounds and situations, and is sensitive to individual differences.
    •   Demonstrate knowledge of the curriculum competencies and skills.
    •   An understanding of healthcare environments as it relates to informatics, health information management, and healthcare IT.
    •   Proficiency in instruction, curriculum development, supervision, evaluation.
     
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  
     
    Experience:
     
    •   Demonstrated administrative and supervisory experience.
    •   Asynchronous and online teaching experience.
    •   One (1) year of experience teaching computer or healthcare related courses in a higher education setting.
     
    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
     
    •   Proficiency in instruction, curriculum development, supervision, evaluation.
