SUMMARY: The Clinical Informaticist (CI) is a clinical leader who serves as the liaison for health IT efforts supporting clinical workflows and associated information systems requirements to support technology initiatives at Valley Children's Healthcare. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring the analysis, design, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of assigned health informatics applications and projects. Advanced knowledge and skills required for this role include clinical relevancy and in-depth knowledge and expertise in healthcare informatics, evidence-based processes, consultation, and leadership. Functions as a clinical resource to IT services as a content resource for assigned projects and initiatives, and as needed for ad hoc requests. Provides input to design and technical development, actively participates, and validates product/system through testing activities and documentation for change and quality control. Ability to work with colleagues in a positive way to help reinforce changes in workflows supporting the intended use of the electronic system and avoiding system workarounds. These competencies are essential to advance the practice, professional development, and support of nursing/clinical practice and care management activities across the care continuum.
