Health Informatics Director directs an organization's clinical biostatistics or health informatics department. Oversees the analysis, management and performance of health information data to aid patient care. Being a Health Informatics Director monitors latest software and technology to keep processes up-to-date and efficient. Communicates with other departments and team members to identify new sources of data, ensure data is used effectively, and establish new initiatives. Additionally, Health Informatics Director requires a master's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Health Informatics Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Health Informatics Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Dr. Hongfang Liu’s research program (ADVANCE Lab) and the Center for Translational AI Excellence and Applications in Medicine (TEAM-AI) at the McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics, University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston, is currently seeking to fill a Program Coordinator position.  Ideal candidate for this role will have at least 3 years of experience with scheduling, maintaining calendars, travel itineraries and prior administrative experience in an academic, healthcare or research setting.

    Position Summary:

    Provides overall design, execution, management, and effectiveness of public education and/or outreach programs in order to ensure the achievement of its assigned goals and objectives.

    Position Key Accountabilities:

    ·                     Assist with lab administration and coordination tasks, including: 

    o        Developing and overseeing program budgets, including resource allocation planning and financial reporting 

    o        Assist with lab organized academic and outreach events/activities 

    o        Assist with hiring, etc. GRAs, etc. 

    o        Preparing agendas/organizing lab-wide meetings 

    ·                     Assist with managing timelines and deliverables for lab projects, ensuring that team members meet crucial deadlines and objectives with accountability and efficiency 

    ·                     Ensures compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations, UTHealth policies and procedures, and Regents rules. 

    ·                     Other Duties as Assigned 

    Certification/Skills:

    • Knowledge of MS Office, SPSS or statistics software applications.
    • Bilingual in Spanish may be preferred.
    • Working knowledge of MS Office Products, Project, Visio, etc. 

    Minimum Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in lieu of education.

    Minimum Experience:

    • Three years of related experience.
    • May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

    Physical Requirements:

    Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

    Security Sensitive:

    This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215

    Residency Requirement:

    Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
