Health Informatics Director directs an organization's clinical biostatistics or health informatics department. Oversees the analysis, management and performance of health information data to aid patient care. Being a Health Informatics Director monitors latest software and technology to keep processes up-to-date and efficient. Communicates with other departments and team members to identify new sources of data, ensure data is used effectively, and establish new initiatives. Additionally, Health Informatics Director requires a master's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Health Informatics Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Health Informatics Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Performs complex informatics analysis and reporting at a senior level for operational and administrative departments across the organization.  Uses evidence-based knowledge to analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Develops and implements databases, data collection systems, analytics, reports and other strategies that optimize efficiency and quality.  Identifies, analyzes and interprets trends using statistical techniques and provides ongoing support.
    • Provides ongoing data analysis and data management throughout the entire request life cycle:  defines reporting needs; develops queries or programs to acquire the data from primary or secondary data sources; analyzes, identifies and visualizes the trends or patterns in the complex data sets; validates the accuracy of the data and maintains detailed change control.
    • Designs, codes, tests, debugs, implements, maintains and follows methodologies to prepare data in a variety of formats that enable the customer to understand the results.
    • Performs data modeling, database design development and data mining. Architects solutions that maximize automation and reduce future maintenance.
    • Effectively manage project deliverables and requestor expectations using precise communication and reasonable forecasting and prioritizing skills.
    • Uses knowledge of scripting, analytical packages and programming languages to prepare reports efficiently.  Uses experience with relational database concepts, using stored procedure, temp tables, sub-queries and temporary indexes.
    • Conduct peer reviews for internal and external developers.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION

    • Bachelor’s degree

    • Seven years’ experience

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
    • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
    • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
    • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
    • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
    • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
    • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
    • Rare climbing.
