Health Informatics Director directs an organization's clinical biostatistics or health informatics department. Oversees the analysis, management and performance of health information data to aid patient care.     This position is located at the Fort Thompson Indian Health Center, Fort Thompson, SD. The position will serve as the Director of the Behavioral Health Department, which provides comprehensive behavioral/mental health services to pediatric, adolescent, adult and elderly patients and comprehensiveoutpatient alcohol/drug treatment services.

    Duties

  • Provides supervision and on the job training for the Behavioral Health staff as signed to the Service Unit and assists in their career development by developing appropriate educational training plans.
  • Responds to consults/referrals regarding patients' medical social services/discharge planning needs within 24 hours of receiving referral.
  • Provides collaborative services through case management for patients whose health conditions require multiple hospitalizations, specialized care or other supportive community placements.
  • Works with patient population in providing direct patient care that addresses their relationships, the effects of their illness on the same, promotes wellness, addressing the needs of the patient and their family, promoting a holistic approach to medicine, while serving as a patient advocate and liaison between patient, family, medical staff and local programs.
  • Performs a mental status evaluation on all new patients as appropriate. Completing psychosocial assessments for walk-in and referred patients in a timely manner, formulating treatment plans with an emphasis on the persons' long term, optimal health outcomes.
