Health Informatics Director directs an organization's clinical biostatistics or health informatics department. Oversees the analysis, management and performance of health information data to aid patient care. Being a Health Informatics Director monitors latest software and technology to keep processes up-to-date and efficient. Communicates with other departments and team members to identify new sources of data, ensure data is used effectively, and establish new initiatives. Additionally, Health Informatics Director requires a master's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Health Informatics Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Health Informatics Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Clinical Informatics Nurse position is focused on assessment of informatics needs of clinical staff. This is accomplished through these functions:

    • In collaboration with nursing associates, nursing leadership, clinical management and interdisciplinary staff members, participates in assessment of informatics needs of clinical staff.
    • Assists in the development, implementation, reporting, and evaluation of Clinical Informatics key performance indicators.
    • Works collaboratively with various IT Leadership and Governance committees/workgroups, Medical Staff, SAHS healthcare staff, and key members of the Information Systems department to design, test systems, train end users, and develop clinical systems.

    EDUCATION/TRAINING:

    • Bachelors Degree in Nursing; Master’s of Science in Nursing or Informatics preferred.
    • At least three years experience in nursing.
    • Clinical Informatics training and experience desirable.


    LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

    • Licensing as a nurse required
    • ANCC Board Certification in Nursing Informatics or other clinical certification preferred
    • Epic certification preferred

    EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of nursing in appropriate specialty served, knowledge of teaching, coaching and evaluation principles and techniques
    • Basic leadership abilities; self-motivated; detail-oriented; effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work independently and as a team member; read, interpret, and follow instructions
    • Ability to work with technical Information Systems (IS) staff
    • Excellent computer and word processing skills required
    • Ability to analyze highly complex systems and workflows
    • Ability to communicate concepts in elegant, concise, eloquent form to management and to cross-functional departments or teams verbally, in writing, and through pictures or diagrams when appropriate
    • Ability to conceptualize, plan, organize, coordinate, and manage the work of a major program or function within a department
    • Ability to influence and to negotiate on behalf of others to achieve best outcomes for the department and the organization as a whole
