Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s latest addition to its expanding Behavioral Health services is the Cornell Behavioral Health Pavilion. The 3-story building offers a full continuum of care from acute inpatient care to intensive outpatient services – and features a collaborative team of mental health experts that ensures the community’s residents have access to quality and compassionate care.

The Cornell Behavioral Health Pavilion’s features include:

• 95,000 square feet focusing on the entire spectrum of mental health services, in one location
  
• 82 private inpatient suitesacross four units dedicated for adolescent, geriatric, adult, and acute patient populations
  
• A sensory roomon each patient floor, with customizable light and music for optimal rest and relaxation 
• Common areas for patients including a gym, screened balconies, and open-air gardens
  
• Group Therapy Rooms

The Director of Psychiatric Nursing is a collaborative member of the behavioral health leaderships team who will integrate and coordinate patient centric nursing practices with a focus on service excellence, while developing and directing the activities of the department in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care standards. This leader will strive to achieve the organization’s mission of providing excellent patient care and establish standards of excellence in nursing and technicians’ practices through a commitment to patient advocacy and innovative patient care in a climate of trust and collaboration. This leader will supervise the Nursing leadership team to include supervisors, coordinators, managers, and the educator. This leader will participate in the behavioral health administrative on-call rotation.

- Require seven (7) years of progressive leadership and management experience in nursing with a minimum of three (3) years within behavioral health.

- Requires Masters of Science Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
- Require Board Certification in psychiatric nursing within six months of hire.

- Prefer demonstrated fiscal responsibility and the ability to prepare operating and capital expense budgets and financial reports.
- Prefer the ability to interact and interface with all levels of staff and senior management.
- Prefer the ability to work independently and in groups to achieve established goals and objectives.
- Prefer expert communication and interpersonal skills.
- Prefer demonstrated leadership and management skills with knowledge and application of advanced professional nursing practice, CQI process, Nursing care deliver models, accreditation/licensure experience, health care delivery systems and budgetary processes.
