Health Informatics Director directs an organization's clinical biostatistics or health informatics department. Oversees the analysis, management and performance of health information data to aid patient care. Being a Health Informatics Director monitors latest software and technology to keep processes up-to-date and efficient. Communicates with other departments and team members to identify new sources of data, ensure data is used effectively, and establish new initiatives. Additionally, Health Informatics Director requires a master's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Health Informatics Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.   • This is what you will do:

    The Director, Environmental Health and Safety for R&D will lead the strategies and programs to ensure the health and safety of our employees, contractors and visitors at our R&D locations that have a diverse and complex EHS footprint including biosafety, industrial hygiene/potent compounds, occupational safety, compliance and permitting and sustainability.

    You will partner with senior stakeholders from various departments, effectively driving the execution of EHS strategy, continuous improvement, behavioral and cultural change. In this role, you will lead, mentor and develop the R&D EHS team that are based across multiple locations.

    You will also drive the Alexion environmental sustainability improvement programs across carbon, energy and natural resources.

    You will be responsible for:

    • Executing tactical EHS objectives to drive workplace injury and illness prevention, increase risk recognition and reduce environmental liabilities.
    • Implementing EHS systems & programs aligned to Alexion’s core values that address compliance and drive continuous improvement.
    • Ensuring EHS performance is appropriately represented to the R&D EHS Leadership Team  
    • Co-ordinating effective relationships with regulatory authorities and maintaining site permits and licences.
    • Partnering with location leaders to assist in the execution of EHS objectives and foster a culture of continuous improvement related to safety and sustainability.
    • Working with functional leaders to integrate EHS into drug development processes
    • Preparing and managing the EHS budget for R&D.

    You will need to have:

    • Bachelor’s degree in EHS, Environmental Management, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Sciences required. 
    • 7-10 years’ experience in EHS program management in safety and regulatory compliance in the pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industry, including roles with a similar leadership profile and level of responsibility.
    • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement to EHS programs and performance
    • Strong biosafety knowledge related to management of EHS risks associated with biohazards including cell and gene therapy, experience in Biological Safety Officer (BSO) role
    • Proficiency with chemical hygiene, occupational health, radiological, and animal worker health programs.
    • Knowledge & experience of implementing EHS Management Systems, managing compliance and the EHS aspects of lab decommissioning and start-up.
    • Demonstrable project management, organisational and execution skills.
