Health Informatics Manager manages a clinical biostatistics or health informatics team. Oversees the analysis, management and performance of health information data to aid patient care. Manager, Integrated Behavioral Health

  • The Manager, IBH is a clinician embedded within the primary care team and manager that reports to the Director, Integrated Behavioral Health. This person works directly with the medical team 50% of the time to assess individuals with behavioral health and /or substance abuse issues, and to provide brief treatment services within the clinical setting. In the clinical role, the Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician expands the team’s ability to treat persons with chronic medical issues that are complicated by lifestyle factors. Remaining 50% of time is dedicated to operation and administrative functions that aid the Department of Integrated Behavioral Health in meeting productivity, outcome and supervision goals. By utilizing a PCMH team-based model, the Manager of Integrated Behavioral Health provides the oversight of current IBH staff and training, as well as clinical services in line with organizational efforts to implement new and manage current integrated care staff throughout PCHC community health center sites.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    CLINICAL (50%)

    • Provide direct integrated care clinical services at any PCHC site that needs float coverage as the primary IBH clinician and maintain an active presence on primary care clinical teams for 50% of time, as well as provide coverage for team members at other sites when on extended leave. Participate in daily medical team huddles, medical staff meetings, multidisciplinary teams, and individual supervision sessions with department Director. 
    • Consult with primary care providers in real time to assist patients with psychosocial issues. This is frequently done as a “warm hand-off” during hours of clinical operation. Informal consultation and referrals from the primary care providers happen at other times as well
    • Triage both scheduled and immediate referrals from the medical teams, treating some with brief treatment and referring others to more appropriate resources

    ADMINISTRATIVE (50%)

    • For 50% of overall time, provide administrative and operational tasks associated with the following: direct supervision of integrated behavioral health team members including, but not limited to,  independently-licensed social workers/psychologists, master’s level social work/psychology trainees, medical residents, RN case managers, behavioral health community advocates, and peer recovery coaches. 
    • Assist with administrative management duties including creating reports associated with productivity on a monthly basis, clinical outcomes and other measures as needed as well as time sheet oversight, vacation scheduling and oversight of verification of insurance authorizations.
    • Co-facilitate weekly IBH Department team meetings, monthly IBH Provider supervision meetings and assist in completion of IBH Department performance evaluations on an annual and probationary period.

    EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE: 

    • Masters or Doctorate in social work, psychology, or mental health counseling from an accredited college or university
    • Licensed independent clinical social worker in the State of Rhode Island (LICSW). Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed psychologist/Health Service Provider in the State of Rhode Island (PhD, PsyD)
    • Requires previous experience (2 years minimum) or internship in a medical setting which supports a primary care integration model, as well as experience in supervising and/or managing up to 20 behavioral health providers and/or staff (5 years minimum)
    • Ability to balance clinical, financial, operational and research (outcomes) roles. 
    • Commitment to work in community health with the challenges of a high risk, and often uninsured and diverse patient population required.
    • CPR, certification required.
