Health Informatics Manager manages a clinical biostatistics or health informatics team. Oversees the analysis, management and performance of health information data to aid patient care. Being a Health Informatics Manager monitors latest software and technology to keep processes up-to-date and efficient. Communicates with analysts, healthcare providers, and management to establish new processes and analyses, and to tailor current data processes to best help providers. Additionally, Health Informatics Manager requires a master's degree. Typically reports to a director or head of a unit/department. The Health Informatics Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Health Informatics Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     The Clinical Informatics (CI) Consultant II has mastered the basic functions of the CI Consultant I including: first-level support of software and hardware, system testing, training development and facilitation, and interdisciplinary collaboration on workflow and technology design and/or improvement. The CI Consultant II can independently manage assignments, issue resolution, and projects from intake to completion. Leverages expert knowledge of clinical workflows and technology to identify, analyze, and resolve complex problems.  Serves as a consultant to administration, IS colleagues, and other leaders and staff on process improvements and new implementations. Precepts and trains informatics colleagues. Embodies the Memorial Health Values of Safety, Integrity, Quality, and Stewardship that support our mission and vision.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree required; Bachelors in Nursing preferred.
    • Master’s degree preferred.

    Licensure/Certification/Registry:

    • Current IL RN license required.

    Experience:

    • A minimum of two years acute care bedside nursing experience is required. At least one year bedside nursing is preferred to be recent experience.
    • A minimum of three to five years applied technical experience in a clinical environment or experience with electronic medical record systems and/or health informatics experience required.

    Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff using technical and non-technical verbiage.
    • Availability to participate in evening, night and weekend ‘on-call’ rotation as required for 24 hour, 7 day a week support of systems.
    • Proven track record of excellent critical thinking skills and independent problem-solving abilities.
    • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
    • Light physical effort.

    Responsibilities

  • Acts as the first level of support to users. Researches, responds, and resolves questions in a timely manner.
  •  

  • Maintains detailed documentation regarding user information, issue identification, and all courses of action taken. Follows up on service requests to determine the status of calls and to ensure the highest level of customer service and satisfaction.
  •  

  • Interacts with network services, system administrators, and/or application teams as needed to restore service and/or identify and correct problems. Simulates or recreates end-user issues to assist in troubleshooting; and recommends system modifications to reduce future issues.
  •  

  • Follows and strictly adheres to the IS Change Management process.
  •  

  • Gathers end-user and business requirements to innovate new functionality and/or enhancements to meet end-user and organizational needs.
  •  

  • Judiciously vets change, enhancement, and new functionality requests as liaison between end users, information services and software vendors to meet end-user needs while following appropriate change management procedures, considering cost/resource requirements, and scalability.
  •  

  • Assures coordination and alignment of change requests/new functionality with informatics, IS, and clinical colleagues.
  •  

  • Monitors system changes for unintentional consequences to interdependent systems and/or workflows. Reports resultant issues and assists with mitigation and resolution efforts.
  •  

  • Tests software and hardware to validate changes, upgrades, and vet new functionality.
  •  

  • Designs, develops and facilitates training to meet technology education needs for clinical staff.
  •  

  • Serves in lead role on major projects, upgrades, and initiatives in design, testing, training, and go-live support.
  •  

  • Participates in patient safety and quality improvement efforts leveraging expert knowledge of clinical workflows and technology.
  •  

  • Acquires and maintains current knowledge of relevant product offerings and support policies in order to provide technically accurate solutions to customers.
  •  

  • Researches new technology and advises supervisor of Clinical Informatics of opportunities, risks, benefits, and return on investment.
  •  

  • Keeps apprised of regulatory landscape, health informatics topics, and external factors impacting clinical workflows and technology needs.
  •  

  • Supports development and achievement of departmental goals and initiatives in positive constructive manner at all times
