Director of Health Care Services & Department Overview

The Director of Health Care Services oversees a team of 6 nurses and 1 medical assistant who provide care for over 200 individuals in our school and residential settings. The Director’s responsibilities encompass a diverse range of essential duties, starting with spearheading the development and implementation of nursing care philosophies, goals, and objectives. The Director ensures that our standards of nursing practice align with professional guidelines while continuously assessing and enhancing the quality of care provided. Additionally, this role oversees various facets of healthcare management, including resident care, adult day programs, and school health initiatives, collaborating closely with physicians to optimize healthcare delivery. Director of Health Care Services Requirements

• Bachelor of Science or Registered Nurse
• Active licensed Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner through the Massachusetts Board of Nurse Examiners or current licensure as a Physician’s Assistant
• Five years of experience in a leadership capacity
• Preference given for DESE license as a school nurse
• Knowledge of DPH, DESE, DEEC, DDS and DCF regulations surrounding children, adolescents and adults for both day and residential care

Director of Health Care Services Responsibilities

• Establishes methods to assess and achieve individual served family satisfaction
• Provides for comprehensive admission and discharge health care information.
• Plans, develops, implements and manages operating budget for Health Care Department.
• Works with staff development to ensure that personnel are provided with staff development programs to maintain and improve job knowledge and skills.
• Coordinates information for regulatory agency reviews and inspection.
• Supports the vision and dental clinics in meeting needs of Melmark individuals and supports Food Service in supplying the nutritional needs of individuals and staff.
