Health Inspector conducts investigations of work environments to determine if safety and health requirements are being met. May require a bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Being a Health Inspector is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on judgment and limited experience to plan and accomplish goals. Additionally, Health Inspector performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a supervisor or manager. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Under the direction of the Health Commissioner and the Executive Director, this position is responsible for performing various duties and inspections in the environmental health field, i.e. office work and field work in food establishments, alleys, fields (rodent control), wetlands, woods, and swamps (vector control)

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school graduate or GED equivalent. Serve Safe Certification within the last 10 years. Two (2) years of experience in the food industry. Certified Pesticide Applicator. Must be able to work independently. Knowledgeable of laws and ordinances governing environmental health issues.
