    Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm

    Location: Onsite


    PRIMARY PURPOSE

    The Director of Behavioral Health at Lorain County Health & Dentistry (LCH&D) is responsible for all aspects of Behavioral Health (BH) services at LCH&D, including health coaching, substance use/abuse coordination and treatment, screening, evaluation, treatment intervention, counseling and therapy, and referral to ongoing care. The Director of Behavioral Health supervises members of the BH team, assures their competence and skill, and holds them accountable to achieve established departmental and organizational goals. Reporting to the CEO, and working with the clinical team, the Director of Behavioral Health coordinates and oversees Behavioral Health services in order to ensure that they are accessible, of high quality, appropriate to community need and compliant with funder expectations as well as state and federal laws and guidelines. Working closely with senior leaders, the Director of Behavioral Health may provide guidance and support to the broader organization to enhance team wellness and performance. The Director of BH contributes to planning, recommends services and service improvements, evaluates quality, engages in patient satisfaction activities, and contributes to grant reporting related to behavioral health. As a clinical psychologist, the BH Director conducts screening and evaluation, consults with medical providers, contributes to treatment planning and recommends or provides therapies and treatment to children and adults in accordance with Lorain County Health & Dentistry standards of care and the organization’s Mission and Values.


    EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

    • Master’s Degree, Doctorate Degree, or Independent License in social work or counseling field with supervision.
    • Must hold a valid license to practice independently in the State of Ohio.
    • Three year’s supervisory or management experience required, 5 years preferred.
    • Must meet all requirements for credentialing and privileging as mandated by policy.
    • Must maintain the appropriate continuing education requirements.
    • Must have BLS certification.


    SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • A minimum of five years of experience in a clinical setting with a minimum of three years of experience in a relevant leadership/management position.
    • Must have flexibility to adapt to a changing health care environment, and a desire to work hard and do well for the benefit of the organization and community.
    • Must be skillful in organizing people and activities toward an established set of goals.
    • Must be able to focus on both daily issues and long term strategies.
    • Must have proficient computer skills and the ability to become proficient in software programs specific to Lorain County Health & Dentistry i.e. NextGen EPM, EHR, ADP, etc.
    • Must have the skill and credibility to serve as a patient advocate and be a role model for change.
    • Must be able to maintain a calm and professional demeanor and communicate enthusiastically with patients.
    • Must be responsive in working with a culturally-diverse patient population.
    • Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to master a therapeutic communication approach
    • Must have ability to independently coordinate multiple tasks.
    • Must be able to work cooperatively with others.
    • Must be able to efficiently and effectively lead a team.
    • Must have desire and ability to hold staff members accountable to organizational policies.
    • Must have valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
    • Bilingual Spanish speaking is a plus.


    PUBLIC AND PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

    • Local travel between health center sites is required.
    • Some state and national travel to conferences and meetings as needed.
    • Attend relevant professional activities, including company-sponsored events as needed.
    • Attend and lead trainings and seminars as directed.
    • Attend and lead meetings as directed; some after-hours meetings are expected.
