    Director of Employee Health & Wellness Details

    Essential Job Duties:

    • Provides direct and indirect patient care according to Union Hospital and Union Medical Group's employee health nursing standards.
      • Exercises professional knowledge and skills in preparing employees for treatment or examination.
      • Supervises or completes tests, screenings, and immunizations for employees, communicating results to the Employee Health physician.
      • Provides after-care instructions and documents teaching and treatments in employee medical records.
      • Understands principles of growth and development, tailoring care to age-specific needs.
    • Acts as a communication liaison between Employee Health Office and various departments such as Human Resources, Payroll, and Work Comp Claims Specialist.
      • Coordinates referrals to specialists, establishes arrangements, and monitors patient compliance.
      • Documents employees' occupational injury/illness treatments and examinations.
      • Manages the Employee Workers' Compensation Program.
    • Assists patients in understanding necessary procedures for treatments/examinations.
      • Maintains knowledge of occupational health laws and communicates with the Hospital Safety Committee.
      • Cooperates with Safety Director in developing safety programs and inspections.
      • Participates in Hospital-sponsored health and wellness programs.
      • Attends and contributes to relevant committees on Employee Health issues.
      • Conducts regular inservices on occupational health services provided.
    • Controls and ensures availability of supplies and equipment for employee health services.
      • Supervises Employee Health Office personnel.
      • Submits budget and manpower requests to VP, Human Resources.
      • Develops and maintains job descriptions for Employee Health Office personnel.
      • Facilitates disciplinary actions for Employee Health staff.
      • Establishes, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for Employee Health and Workers' Compensation.
      • Provides counseling and educational materials to employees regarding their health.
    • Completes and posts the OSHA 300 Log annually.
    • Demonstrates general and specific clerical and office skills.
      • Organizes work schedule and employee workload systematically.
      • Prepares monthly statistics and reports for various departments.
      • Monitors employees on modified work status or off work.
      • Maintains confidentiality with all employee medical files.
    • Distributes workers' compensation payments to employees and healthcare providers.
    • Observes and complies with Hospital policies and procedures.
      • Exercises tact and diplomacy in working with all employees.
      • Familiar with Hospital's Disaster Plan and Employee Health Office's role in it.
      • Reports for duty on time and attends departmental in-services and staff meetings.
      • Assesses self-learning needs and seeks assistance through self-study and educational offerings.

    Qualifications:

    • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing, preferably with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
    • Complete a minimum of 0.6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in Occupational Health Nursing annually, along with 50 contact hours in nursing-related topics per year.
    • Have at least three years of full-time experience in occupational health nursing, employee health nursing, or related fields.

    License/Certification:

    • Hold a valid Indiana Registered Nurse license.
