Exciting opportunity to join the Healthy Community Alliance team of committed professionals working to provide unbiased health insurance information, counseling and assistance for the Medicare eligible older adults and caregivers in Cattaraugus County. This role will help clients understand their options regarding Original Medicare Parts A & B, Medicare Advantage plans, Medigap plans, and Part D. In addition, Help determine if client is eligible for federal and/or state programs to lower costs – Medicare Savings program, Extra Help and EPIC. This position will work closely with the Cattaraugus County Department of Aging Case Supervisor to ensure program requirements are met and services are of high quality.
Responsibilities:
· Provide accurate and unbiased one on one Medicare counseling
· Empower and assist individuals with selecting and enrolling in Medicare programs
· Public education to older adults on Medicare programs and benefits under Medicare
· Advocacy and referral to other programs as needed
· Attend state Health Insurance Information, Counseling and Assistance Program (HIICAP) trainings and monthly conference calls
· Travels between work locations within program service area, and occasionally travels outside of Cattaraugus County to attend conferences, participate in workshops, and conduct presentations
Minimum Qualifications:
· At least 2 years of previous programming/outreach activity or related experience
· GED or HS Diploma required
· Ability to complete state Health Insurance Information, Counseling and Assistance Program (HIICAP) Training
· Reliable transportation to outreach sites, training, and in-person appointments as needed
· Computer skills to manage calendar and Medicare portals
Preferred Qualifications:
· Working knowledge of community resources available to older adults
· Ability to communicate with persons having physical or language impairments
· Able to multi-task, respond to rapid change; organize, prioritize, and perform work with minimal supervision
· Strong organizational skills
