Health Underwriting Director directs and oversees the health insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups for medical and/or dental insurance. Responsible for ensuring integrity of underwriting activities and processes. Being a Health Underwriting Director manages staff of underwriters at the organization. Provides assistance to underwriters on more complex applications. Additionally, Health Underwriting Director has a strong knowledge of the underwriting discipline. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Health Underwriting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. The Underwriting Director is responsible for directing effective product development, pricing and underwriting through managing all components of profit, loss, and expenses for our Ocean Marine Cargo business.

Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience and skillset of the candidate. The following ranges displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires but your recruiter will share more specific compensation information with you during the hiring process. The typical base salary range for this position is: $243,000 – $285,000, based on the factors aforementioned. For candidates located in San Francisco, CA; Hoboken, NJ; and the New York City metro area, the base salary range is $243,000 -$285,000.
