Health Underwriting Director directs and oversees the health insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups for medical and/or dental insurance. Responsible for ensuring integrity of underwriting activities and processes. Being a Health Underwriting Director manages staff of underwriters at the organization. Provides assistance to underwriters on more complex applications. Additionally, Health Underwriting Director has a strong knowledge of the underwriting discipline. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Health Underwriting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Summary of Job Function
Reports to the Assistant Vice President of Facility Operations Responsible for managing a staff up to 20 FTEs,
Maintains 800,000 square feet of space in an acute care hospital,
Manage the site grounds maintenance for a 67 acre campus,
Assist in the maintenance and property management of offsite locations,
Manage departmental operating budget including utilities expenses for hospital and subsidiary entities,
Ensures compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations,
Job Qualifications Education Training Certification Licensure
Bachelors' of Science degree in engineering or related field of study required
At least five years of supervisory experience in an equivalent position in an acute care hospital,
Must have experience with HVAC systems, emergency generator and electrical systems, plumbing, and construction,
Certification Licensure
Masters Science Degree in engineering and /or New Jersey Professional Engineer License preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Proficiency with Computer Assisted Drafting CAD software is required
Proficient with Microsoft office applications including Excel, Outlook, and Word

Manage the departmental budget,
