Health Underwriting Director directs and oversees the health insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups for medical and/or dental insurance. Responsible for ensuring integrity of underwriting activities and processes. Being a Health Underwriting Director manages staff of underwriters at the organization. Provides assistance to underwriters on more complex applications. Additionally, Health Underwriting Director has a strong knowledge of the underwriting discipline. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Health Underwriting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. DEPARTMENT: Adult Day Health Care
POSITION: Adult Day Health Care Director
SUPERVISOR: Administrator
Duties:
Public relations liaison to area community and community referral agencies.
Policy and procedure development, implementation, and monitoring.
Act as in-house coordinator of ancillary departments providing services to program registrants.
Oversees the daily operation of Adult Day Health Care program including:
Maintains weekly and monthly census numbers.
Assures timely and accurate completion of the UAS's.
Performs quarterly quality assurance audits on the registrant reviews including review of charts for history and physical documentation, bi-annual summaries, progress notes for social services and recreational therapy, and maintaining statistics on quarterly discharges and presents results to the Quality Assurance Committee.
Oversees department expenses for each month comparing to budget and complete budget, including equipment requests, for the following year.
Performs at-home interviewing of prospective applicants when needed.
Maintains a current transportation schedule for registrants in coordination with the Director of Maintenance, assigned drivers, and staff members.
Provides weekly (or as otherwise requested), registrant attendance information to Accounting Office via E-mail. At end of month, submit written attendance record to accounting.
Assures completion of all accident/incident reporting while on duty and follow-up as indicated in conjunction with off-time programs for both registrants and staff.
Participation in area and statewide Adult Day Health Care organizations.
Maintain attendance as member of the following committees:
Maintains liaison role with Gan Kavod, Inc.
Updates program brochure and other related marketing materials as needed in conjunction with Community Relations Department.
Coordinates public speaking engagements with informal/formal referral sources in an effort to promote program.
Performs duties according to the highest ethical and moral standards and in adherence with the facility's corporate compliance plan and all applicable governing laws. Adheres to the facility's confidentiality statement in accessing and safeguarding protected health information (PHI) of residents and employees, as necessary to perform job duties.
Any other duties as requested by the Administrator or designee.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
Prior management experience in marketing or health related field. Graduate of a minimum four year accredited college or university. One year of experience preferred in working with the geriatric population.
OR
Graduate of an approved School of Nursing. Current licensure to practice as a registered professional nurse in New York State
Leadership ability and effective communication skills, demonstrated through work history.
