Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activities Director to join our team at ABBA Adult Day Health. As an Activities Director, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating engaging activities and programs for our residents in a nursing home or assisted living facility. Your role will play a vital part in enhancing the quality of life for our senior residents.
Duties:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program that meets the physical, emotional, and social needs of our residents
- Plan and organize a variety of recreational, social, and therapeutic activities to promote physical fitness, mental stimulation, and social interaction
- Coordinate special events, outings, and holiday celebrations for residents and their families
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure activities are integrated into the overall care plan for each resident
- Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed
- Conduct assessments to identify individual resident interests, preferences, and needs
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities and evaluate the effectiveness of programs
- Stay up-to-date with current trends in senior care and aging issues counseling to provide the best possible support to our residents
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field such as social work, recreational therapy, or a similar discipline preferred
- Previous experience in event planning, schedule management, caregiving, or a related field is highly desirable
- Knowledge of the unique needs and challenges faced by seniors in nursing homes or assisted living facilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff members
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities
- Compassionate nature with a genuine interest in improving the lives of seniors
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
