Health Underwriting Manager manages the health insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups for medical and/or dental insurance. Ensures integrity of underwriting activities and processes. Being a Health Underwriting Manager participates in the development of master policies and other official documents. Verifies that the account contracts are in compliance with government regulations. Additionally, Health Underwriting Manager typically is a RN with clinical experience. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Health Underwriting Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Health Underwriting Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     As an Underwriting Assistant to an Industry-leading International Commercial Insurance Institution you will be responsible for working with top National and State Wide companies as well as High-Profile Clients. Assist the team in maintaining efficient underwriting processes and providing customer service to their Clients. Work on a flexible and innovative team offering a friendly, collaborative, diverse and inclusive work environment.

    Additional Responsibilities include:

    • Support the Underwriters in the delivery of an effective and efficient administration service
    • Provide pre-underwriting and rating support to Underwriters and other staff.
    • Ensure timely and accurate data entry and scanning of risk documentation onto all systems within agreed service levels. Specifically checking agreed % of risk entries as required.
    • Data verification, integrity & accuracy.
    • Photocopying, logging and scanning quotes and declinatures, filing, archiving and scanning.
    • Interact with other teams, i.e. Claims, Finance, Compliance, Management Services and other underwriting teams on matters affecting or related to accounts within the portfolio.
    • Help maintain team standards through supporting other underwriting assistants in achieving their service/quality levels and targets, as required.
    • Provide accurate management information to management team and underwriters.
    • Produce ad hoc reports, presentations and marketing literature for managers, underwriters and other members of staff as requested.
    • Provide a professional service to brokers in person, writing, email and telephone.
    • Maintain and develop key relationships including brokers and external clients, responding to client queries in an accurate and timely fashion.
    • Attend client meetings as required.

    • Accurate and numerate
    • Computer skills – good working knowledge of MS Office, well developed spreadsheet skills
    • Able to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing
    • Motivational skills, team worker as well as able to work on own initiative
    • The ability to manage time, meet deadlines and priorities
