About the Position

Glatfelter Insurance Group is seeking an Underwriting Assistant to join our Worker’s Compensation underwriting team.  Our new team member will assist Underwriters by entering data into the policy rating and issuance system for new business, renewals, and endorsements.  The responsibilities include clearing, rating, file setup, policy issuance/endorsement/cancellation processing, data entry, pulling loss runs, and providing exemplary customer service to our brokers through regular correspondence.

This is a York-based position, and our new team member will be reporting to the office at least 3 days per week.

What We’re Looking For

• Knowledge of Workers Compensation line of business preferred, including NCCI and state bureau websites.
• Ability to process work with high accuracy and strong attention to detail.
• Previous experience in a property-casualty agency or company is preferred. 
• Proficient technical knowledge in using software systems required in the performance of their position including Microsoft Office applications.
• The ability to speak and write in a grammatically correct, understandable manner in order to process assigned correspondence and effectively communicate with a wide variety of individuals both internally and externally including customers and agents.
• The ability to process a heavy volume of detailed work on multiple systems requiring considerable concentration while meeting departmental standards for accuracy and production is necessary.
• Mathematical ability required to perform rating functions 
• Analytical ability required to identify and resolve problems and make decisions within specified scope of authority.
• Ability to organize and effectively prioritize work to maintain consistent quality and quantity of work.
• Highly motivated individual who is not afraid to ask questions or be proactive in problem solving, embracing challenges.

Education Requirements 

Graduation from high school with appropriate course work in English and Math leading to proficiency in verbal and written communications skills.

Workers Compensation education or applicable insurance designations a plus
