Health and Safety Administrator is responsible for identifying hazardous workplace conditions. Takes samples and measurements of hazardous materials, and coordinates the removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards. Being a Health and Safety Administrator trains employees on safety, company policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to employee safety. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations and ensures necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines. Additionally, Health and Safety Administrator participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor. To be a Health and Safety Administrator typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Cabot's Billerica Technology Center is loking for a SH&E Specialist to join their team. This person will be responsible for complex technical work in a wide range of environmental, health and safety disciplines. They will provide mid-level analysis to department and site managers. They will also assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary to ensure the overall safety and health of employees and the community. This position is full time onsite Monday-Friday based in our Billerica location.
• Collect, analyze, evaluate and distribute SH&E management information. Create and/or run reports for distribution to management. Monitoring safety and health performance by running reports. Provide recommendations, as appropriate, for improvements to SH&E programs.• Monitor and prevent chemical, physical and biological hazards and diseases that could be present in the area by conducting air, soil, or other environmental tests.• Investigate accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards or uncomfortable conditions in the workplace. Recommend improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment to minimize the hazard potential.• Conduct employee training, emergency preparedness, and maintain Learnshare the learning management system.• Provide regulatory interpretation and technical advice. May provide technical guidance to less experienced personnel• Support team building initiatives with technical and office teams. Participate on internal committees and teams, as appropriate.• Track and monitor existing and pending regulations and make recommendations, as appropriate• Participate in SH&E audits, as appropriate.• Provide assistance to staff and managers in assessing and achieving Corporate goals and objectives.• Maintain working knowledge of specific requirements imposed by government agencies.• Assist in the design and conduct of SH&E employee and contractor training programs.• Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care® Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001® technical specification, as applicable to the site/region.
