Health and Safety Administrator is responsible for identifying hazardous workplace conditions. Takes samples and measurements of hazardous materials, and coordinates the removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards. Being a Health and Safety Administrator trains employees on safety, company policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to employee safety. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations and ensures necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines. Additionally, Health and Safety Administrator participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor. To be a Health and Safety Administrator typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.     Industrial Hygiene and Safety Technology, Inc. (IHST) is seeking an Industrial Hygienist. IHST is an industrial hygiene and environmental consulting firm located in Carrollton, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. IHST was founded in 1987 and has operated under the same name and ownership for 35 years. The individual we are looking for will enjoy the challenge of working on multiple projects on a fast-paced schedule, working with senior staff, and providing field oversight on a variety of projects. More specific details are described below.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Conducting onsite sampling and exposure assessment activities for chemical contaminants and noise in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, transportation and pharmaceutical.
    • Conducting indoor environmental quality and mold assessments of commercial, governmental, and residential buildings.
    • Performing safety and health audits and providing employee training on respiratory protection, use of personal protective equipment and other similar topics.
    • Maintaining detailed field notes and records of all sampling and assessment activities; entering field data into spreadsheets, tables, and computer databases.
    • Calibrating and using a variety of sampling and direct-reading instrumentation.
    • Writing basic reports explaining methodology and results of assessments and audits and completing such reports with minimal requirements for review and revision.
    • Coordinating onsite assessments with clients.

    Position Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in industrial hygiene, environmental science, chemistry, biology, or other science-related discipline.
    • 1 to 3 years of experience in the practice of industrial hygiene.
    • Strong knowledge of industrial hygiene regulations, standards, and best practices.
    • Strong familiarity with computer (PC) hardware and software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, minimum).
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Overnight travel required.
    • Able to meet deadlines, both internally and externally.
    • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

    Physical Requirements

    • Walk job sites during audits.
    • Regularly carry field testing equipment (up to 30 pounds) onto job sites.
    • Requires frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, sitting, pushing, and pulling exerted regularly throughout the work shift.

    • Annual salary starts at $70,000.00 commensurate with experience.
