Health and Safety Administrator is responsible for identifying hazardous workplace conditions. Takes samples and measurements of hazardous materials, and coordinates the removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards. Being a Health and Safety Administrator trains employees on safety, company policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to employee safety. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations and ensures necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines. Additionally, Health and Safety Administrator participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor. To be a Health and Safety Administrator typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.   • PotlatchDeltic Land and Lumber is currently seeking candidates for a 2024 Summer Salaried Intern for our Warren, Arkansas Lumber Mill.  The purpose of an internship is to supplement your education by providing a broader understanding of your potential career path.  This internship will be in the Environmental Health & Safety offices at the mill and will focus on compliance and safety related activities.

    The hourly rate of pay for this position is $20.00 per hour.

    Working Conditions:

    • Majority office environment, with occasional activities in the field including hot, dusty, wet, dirty and industrial work environments.
    • Ability to work independently and on a team
    • Working outside in a variety of weather conditions (e.g., heat and rain)
    • Variety of terrain conditions (e.g., river bottoms and numerous walking obstacles)
    • Periodic use of stairs and ladders while in the mill
    • Some mental/visual/physical fatigue from computer terminal use
    • Occasional lifting of 30 pounds or less

    Requirements:

    • Enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program in Biology, Business, Environmental Science, Engineering, or other related field
    • Must have completed at least one year of college
    • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
    • Possess excellent multitasking, planning, communication and organizational skills
    • Possess an outgoing personality and demonstrate a desire to learn
    • Prior industrial experience is desirable
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Must be responsible, dependable and very safety conscious
    • Be able to work any shift/day of the week

    Interns are matched with a mentor to assist in their training and development. The mentor will guide the intern as they develop an intimate understanding of the processes to complete a project that promotes cost savings, efficiencies, quality, and most importantly, safety.

    Internships are typically three-month, full-time assignments, beginning in May or June and continuing through August.

    This position is an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Intern and will work in the Warren, AR mill office for the summer.
