Health and Safety Administrator is responsible for identifying hazardous workplace conditions. Takes samples and measurements of hazardous materials, and coordinates the removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards. Being a Health and Safety Administrator trains employees on safety, company policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to employee safety. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations and ensures necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines. Additionally, Health and Safety Administrator participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor. To be a Health and Safety Administrator typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.     The Safety and Health Specialist, reporting to the Safety Supervisor, is responsible for supporting PSM (Process Safety Management) programs, assisting in general EHS&S activities, and coordinating occupational health and safety initiatives.   The selected candidate will facilitate the MOC (Management of Change) process, ensure various Safety and IH (Industrial Hygiene) equipment is maintained, and provide key support within the EHS&S team.

    Specific Responsibilities Include:

    • Lead safety in a way that supports the Company’s 3 Key Principles and Tenets of Operation, with a firm belief that all incidents are preventable.
    • Administering the MOC process.
    • Assisting and facilitating various activities within the PSM elements.
    • Advise the EHS&S Manager and Site General Manager on matters related to Occupational Safety and Health as needed.
    • Acquire and maintain current knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation.
    • Ensure compliance of internal and external health and safety regulations by identifying and analyzing problems, presenting suggestions and recommendations, and supporting corrective actions for improvements to site management.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain exposure monitoring programs for various workplace hazards.
    • Use Itafos’s Incident Reporting System to input incident reports and job task observations, assign corrective actions, monitor task completions, and trend and analyze safety and environmental data.  May be required to lead, facilitate, and participate in investigations from time to time.
    • Lead and/or participate in employee and contractor safety meetings and training sessions covering various topics.
    • Coordinate and manage 3rd party consultants or contractors as needed to meet the health and safety needs for continuous operations.
    • Assisting with various EHS&S sampling and testing needs (e.g. manage air monitoring instrumentation, conduct auditory hearing tests, facilitate PPE trials, etc.).
    • Provide support and complete various tasks and initiatives as needed.
    • Assist the mining safety team on matters related to EHS; may be required to take on specific EHS related projects at the mine.

    Minimum Requirements include:

    • 2 years' work experience in similar role OR 3 years of experience in chemical manufacturing with an understanding of PSM programs and occupational health and safety fundamentals OR Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or other applied Science or Engineering.
    • Ability to work with minimal oversight while delivering high quality results in a timely manner.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Experience presenting to large and diverse audiences.
    • Possess the ability to understand P&IDs and technical process information.
    • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite), SAP, etc.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively train across a variety of disciplines.
    • Experience coordinating and prioritizing tasks and duties in a team environment.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or other Applied Science or Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution.
    • Possess sufficient knowledge of applicable regulatory laws (e.g. OSHA, RMP, EPA, etc.).
    • Experience with program planning, development, and implementation.
    • Experience in administering respirator fit testing.
    • Supervisory experience to three (3) or more individuals.
    • Formal training in Incident Investigation and Root Cause Failure Analysis, such as Tap Root, Cause Mapping, etc.
