Health and Safety Manager monitors the removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards, and training of employees on safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Verifies compliance with health and safety regulations and ensures all necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines. Being a Health and Safety Manager manages the participation in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Additionally, Health and Safety Manager acts as advisor to health and safety administration team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a Manager or Head of a Unit/Department. The Health and Safety Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Health and Safety Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Salary Range: $24.00 - $38.50

    Job Summary

    Provides subject matter expertise in federal, state and local regulations and industry best practice for all areas of assigned responsibilities including but not limited to the Joint Commission standards, OSHA, Life Safety Code, Department of Health, Department of Transportation, CMS Requirements of Participation and Conditions of Participation, Facility services, and building security and safety services. Ensures a healthy and safe work environment by developing and maintaining the appropriate programs, policies and procedures in compliance with all applicable regulations. Provides technical support for facility systems and program support for all assigned areas of responsibility.

    Maintains, supports and conducts education and training programs in assigned areas of responsibilities for field locations. Provides consultation to all field service lines in order to identify safety risks and make recommendations to address issues.

    Participates in accident and security investigations as necessary. Familiar with a variety of operational concepts, practices and procedures. Prioritizes, sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities and monitors and summarizes progress of projects. Relies on experience, judgment, and organizational objectives to plan and accomplish goals. Understands a systems approach to problem solving and process improvement involving staff. Builds and maintains working relationships with team members, vendors, and other departments involved in projects. Prepares reports for upper management regarding status of projects. Ensures completion and documentation of Joint Commission and other regulatory standards.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. In lieu of degree, leadership may accept six years’ experience in relevant work assignments.

    Three years' experience successfully leading program support and development preferred.
