Health and Safety Manager monitors the removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards, and training of employees on safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Verifies compliance with health and safety regulations and ensures all necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines. Being a Health and Safety Manager manages the participation in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Additionally, Health and Safety Manager acts as advisor to health and safety administration team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a Manager or Head of a Unit/Department. The Health and Safety Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Health and Safety Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     We’re currently seeking a highly motivated Safety Manager located in Malaga, WA.

    Required Education:

    • High School Diploma

    Preferred Education:

    • 4-year degree is preferred. An Occupational Safety and Health degree is suggested.

    Required Certifications/Licenses:

    • Valid Driver’s License.

    Preferred Certifications/Licenses:

    • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) Certification designation is suggested.

    Required Qualifications:

    In order to become a candidate, you must possess the following skills and abilities.

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety on commercial construction projects.
    • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
    • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow-up skills both internally and externally.
    • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
    • Computer software - Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel based templates, Prolog, Primavera and AutoDesk Suite.

    Responsibilities:

    • Effectively communicate with various stakeholders including project owners, insurance carriers, prime contractor, staff, craft and trade partners. Attend owner meetings and work with their safety representatives, as necessary.
    • Enhance safety culture through participation in executive safety culture charrettes and assisting the CARES (craft safety) committee.
    • Assist project team with safety start-up, program development, implementation and management. Work with project team to create and manage the safety budget. Anticipate necessary safety supplies for employees.
    • Oversee the safety point file system and documentation. Maintain project statistical data.
    • Participate in the six-step quality control/safety process including assisting with activity hazard analyses and participating in follow-up inspections. Focus team members on high-risk activities and work with the area superintendents on ways to control risk.
    • Conduct project safety training, as needed, and assist in developing the project safety training schedule. Assist other team members in conducting safety training including tailgate meetings.
    • Lead the development and implementation of the project's SAFE program. Analyze project safety trends and work with PS to implement initiatives to address unsafe trends.
    • Conduct project safety audits and assist in team audits.
    • Personnel evaluation and development.
    • Knowledge of construction processes and the roles and responsibilities of all positions.

    Salary:

    • $46.00 – $53.00 per hour

    Bonus Pay:
    A bonus may be granted to employees depending on individual performance, employee utilization, attendance, tenure, and furtherance of other non-financial corporate goals; bonus opportunities are available at management’s discretion.
