Health and Safety Supervisor supervises the identification and remediation of hazardous workplace conditions. Oversees the measurement and sampling of hazardous materials, and any removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards. Being a Health and Safety Supervisor investigates, analyzes, and reports on any accidents or unsafe events and suggests remedial and preventative actions. Develops a safety conscious culture by providing workforce education on first aid, emergency/safety procedures and regulations. Additionally, Health and Safety Supervisor ensures all necessary records are maintained and are in compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations. Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a Manager. The Health and Safety Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Health and Safety Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Health and Safety Supervisor

    We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Health and Safety Supervisor to join our team in the automotive industry. As a Health and Safety Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. Your primary focus will be on developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs and policies to minimize workplace hazards and promote a culture of safety within the organization. You will play a crucial role in mitigating risks, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and fostering a proactive approach to health and safety practices. This position requires a strong understanding of health and safety principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders. Experience with ISO 14001 and 45001 standards is highly desirable.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry best practices in the automotive sector.
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish safety goals and objectives and develop strategies to achieve them.
    • Provide guidance and support to management and employees on health and safety matters, including training programs, safe work practices, and emergency preparedness.
    • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports on root causes, preventive measures, and corrective actions.
    • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to health and safety activities, including incident reports, training records, safety data sheets (SDS), and safety permits.
    • Stay up-to-date with relevant regulations, industry standards, and emerging trends in health and safety, and proactively make recommendations for continuous improvement.
    • Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions to raise awareness and promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
    • Collaborate with regulatory agencies, insurance providers, and external auditors during inspections and assessments, ensuring compliance and addressing any issues or findings.
    • Implement and maintain an integrated management system (IMS) that aligns with ISO 14001 and 45001 standards, ensuring effective environmental and occupational health and safety management.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred. Relevant certifications and licenses are highly desirable.
    • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Supervisor or a similar role, preferably within the automotive industry or manufacturing sector.
    • Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal health and safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and other relevant standards.
    • Experience with ISO 14001 and 45001 standards, and the ability to implement and maintain an integrated management system (IMS) aligned with these standards.
    • Strong analytical skills to assess risks, identify hazards, and develop effective control measures.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate employees at all levels of the organization.
    • Demonstrated ability to implement and manage safety programs and initiatives effectively.
    • Experience in conducting investigations, root cause analysis, and developing corrective action plans.
    • Proficiency in using health and safety management systems, software, and tools.
    • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records and documentation.
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and inspire a safety-conscious culture.
    • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle emergency situations effectively.
