Health and Safety Supervisor supervises the identification and remediation of hazardous workplace conditions. Oversees the measurement and sampling of hazardous materials, and any removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards. Being a Health and Safety Supervisor investigates, analyzes, and reports on any accidents or unsafe events and suggests remedial and preventative actions. Develops a safety conscious culture by providing workforce education on first aid, emergency/safety procedures and regulations. Additionally, Health and Safety Supervisor ensures all necessary records are maintained and are in compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations. Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a Manager. The Health and Safety Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Health and Safety Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Work Location: The WSR works from a home office (that is, their home). However, this is a field position that requires the establishment of the “Official Work Station” for travel purposes to be in Alger, Baraga, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Chippewa, Delta, Dickinson, Emmet, Luce, Mackinac (excluding Mackinac Island), Marquette, Menominee, or Schoolcraft County.
M – F, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. Work may require early departure, evening work, or occasional weekends as needed.
