Health and Safety Supervisor supervises the identification and remediation of hazardous workplace conditions. Oversees the measurement and sampling of hazardous materials, and any removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards. Being a Health and Safety Supervisor investigates, analyzes, and reports on any accidents or unsafe events and suggests remedial and preventative actions. Develops a safety conscious culture by providing workforce education on first aid, emergency/safety procedures and regulations. Additionally, Health and Safety Supervisor ensures all necessary records are maintained and are in compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations. Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a Manager. The Health and Safety Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Health and Safety Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. A Safety Coach plays an important role in meeting our Health System's goal to achieve zero events of preventable serious harm by 2025. The Safety Coach is an every day champion and role model that is willing to promote the tools of BE SAFE, BE CARING, BE KIND in daily interactions. If you are interested in being considered as a volunteer for one of the Saftey Coach roles in your unit or department, please complete this application.
Responsibilities: This role will allow you to lead by example and coach others using BE SAFE tools. You will help encourage safety event reporting and provide feedback to the lead coach. You may be asked to share learnings from safety events, identify and lead projects to improve local issues, as well as be a resource to the staff on safety initiatives. You will be required to attend Safety Coach meetings.
Criteria: Candidate should have completed 90 days of employment, had "meets expectations" on annual review, and no recent disciplinary issues. Must be passionate about safety and process improvement. This position requires effective communication skills and the confidence to speak up for safety. Willing to attend 3-hour onboarding session and ongoing training on safety initiatives.
