Health and Safety Supervisor supervises the identification and remediation of hazardous workplace conditions. Oversees the measurement and sampling of hazardous materials, and any removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards. Being a Health and Safety Supervisor investigates, analyzes, and reports on any accidents or unsafe events and suggests remedial and preventative actions. Develops a safety conscious culture by providing workforce education on first aid, emergency/safety procedures and regulations. Additionally, Health and Safety Supervisor ensures all necessary records are maintained and are in compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations. Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a Manager. The Health and Safety Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Health and Safety Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Responsible for coordinating and directing personnel to assure adherence with all aspects of a quality system that supports the production of safe, high quality product within design limits compliance.
Responsible for performance coaching, development, and training of employees in quality standards and analysis.
Assures regulatory, company standards, and Quality Programs are in-place and implemented within a teamwork environment working 7/24.
Using SPC tools assist with process control, problem solving and process improvement.
Supports the continuous training, record keeping, and maintenance of the food safety and quality practices within the Plant.
Acts as point-of-contact, and through professional judgment in evaluation, suggests resolution to food safety and quality concerns, in the absence of the Quality Manager.
Support and promote food safety and quality program initiatives within the plant environment.
Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.
