Overview
Job Summary
Develops, plans, implements and communicates the organization’s strategies and initiatives for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems. Functions as liaison between end users, IT Business Analysts and IT Development Staff implementing applications and processes utilizing EDI systems. Maintains and improves EDI related systems and properly executes procedures, including related development, change requests and enterprise integration projects. Consistently provides friendly and engaging customer service to internal and external customers. Performs other related work.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service with an emphasis on taking care of the customer. Provide exceptional customer service by telephone, email, and in person.
- Lead, coordinate and communicate strategy for key processes and improvements to EDI implementations.
- Participate in design and review of applications and integration strategies for EDI systems.
- Coordinate with IT teams and business units to ensure functionality, availability, reliability, and scalability of EDI systems meets business requirements.
- Lead design of system configurations, mapping and management requirements of EDI-based transactions and processes.
- Analyze and resolve complex EDI related data transmission and data integrity problems.
- Monitor EDI system performance and provides reporting of EDI metrics.
- Identify opportunities for EDI integration and develop requirements for conversion to correct data formats.
- Perform data audits and quality control measures to ensure data integrity.
- Recommend, coordinate and execute modifications to EDI systems in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
- Establish and implement policies and procedures to ensure EDI system security.
- Develop and maintain EDI process documentation, system documentation and knowledge base.
- Conduct research and recommend appropriate solutions for EDI related software in support of Accounting, Procurement and Distribution systems.
- Review and coordinate implementation of vendor-supplied EDI patches.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field plus five (5) years equivalent work experience in addition to experience listed below.
Experience:
- Five (5) years’ experience with IBM Gentran or enterprise capable EDI software.
- Supporting and troubleshooting EDI and data transfer systems in an iSeries/AS400 environment.
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining EDI and data transfer systems.
- Working with data transfer software and methods, such as IBM Gentran.
- Working with EDI standard formats (ANSI X12, EDIFACT, etc.) and EDI translators.
- Demonstrating an understanding of the application and use of common data transfer utilities (FTP,
- SFTP, FTPS, AS2, etc.)
- Demonstrating a basic understanding of network concepts and protocols.
- Demonstrating proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

- Conduct effective oral and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of internal and external team members and customers.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal relationship and customer service skills, developing and maintaining an excellent rapport within the IT department and its customers.
- Conduct in-depth research into EDI and data transfer issues and products as required.
- Utilize hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
- Work independently as well as work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Maintain a high level of efficiency and accuracy in all matters.
- Sit for extended periods.
