Heavy Assembler assembles fabricated parts to large or heavy subassemblies and completes units. Fits, tests, and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications. Being a Heavy Assembler conducts welding, riveting, and trimming of parts to fit or align components. Uses hand and power tools, jigs, fixtures, and other assembly equipment. Additionally, Heavy Assembler typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Heavy Assembler works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Summary / Objective
Assembles machine components into sub and full assemblies, utilizing engineering drawings. As required, perform wiring per electrical schematics, pipe fitting, welding and machine testing. As assigned, may complete customization work on machines imported from Japan.

Work Environment
This position works in a manufacturing production facility which is often loud, and is subject to seasonal temperature changes. The employee is regularly exposed to heavy machinery (overhead cranes, forklifts and IM machines), moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and mechanical vibration. Employees are expected to maintain the highest levels of personal safety through the use of PPE and ensuring that any employee entering specific work areas wear PPE appropriate to the area.
Physical Demands
This position requires employees to climb on top of machines, inside machines (confined spaces) and regularly lift loads weighing 50 pounds or more. Employees must be able to kneel, stand, walk and use hands for extended periods of time.
