Heavy Equipment Operator operates heavy equipment or machinery, such as a tractor, bulldozer, backhoe, or excavator, for the purposes of construction, demolition, or excavation. Prepares equipment and conducts routine inspections prior to operation to ensure it is safe and in working condition. Being a Heavy Equipment Operator identifies and addresses potential hazards and adheres to all safety protocols and regulations. May be responsible for scheduling minor repairs and conducting routine maintenance like cleaning and lubricating. Additionally, Heavy Equipment Operator requires a high school diploma. May require State License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Heavy Equipment Operator independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors. Duties:
- Operate various types of heavy equipment, including but not limited to excavator,
bulldozer, off road truck, tractor backhoe, front end loader.
- Safely and efficiently operate equipment to perform tasks such as digging, lifting, loading,
and transporting materials.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure proper
functioning.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to complete assigned tasks in a timely
manner.
- Adhere to project specifications and requirements.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment is required.
- Valid driver's license .
- Ability to operate multiple types of equipment.
- Strong understanding of equipment operation principles and safety procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications a plus.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Physical stamina to withstand long hours of sitting or standing and perform repetitive
tasks.
