Heavy Equipment Operator operates heavy equipment or machinery, such as a tractor, bulldozer, backhoe, or excavator, for the purposes of construction, demolition, or excavation. Prepares equipment and conducts routine inspections prior to operation to ensure it is safe and in working condition. Being a Heavy Equipment Operator identifies and addresses potential hazards and adheres to all safety protocols and regulations. May be responsible for scheduling minor repairs and conducting routine maintenance like cleaning and lubricating. Additionally, Heavy Equipment Operator requires a high school diploma. May require State License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Heavy Equipment Operator independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors.     ? Conduct safety checks on equipment and ensure that all safety devices are functioning correctly
    ? Report any equipment malfunctions, hazards, or safety violations immediately

    2. Safety Compliance:
    ? Inspect heavy equipment machinery for defects prior to use
    ? Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines, ensuring the safe operation of heavy equipment and the protection of personnel and property

    3. Grading and Excavation:
    ? Perform grading and excavation work to prepare the site for construction
    ? Achieve precise levels and slopes as specified in project plans

    4. Material Handling:
    ? Load and unload materials, debris, and equipment using heavy machinery
    ? Transport materials and equipment to different areas of the construction site as needed
    ? Ensure proper storage and handling of materials and equipment to prevent damage or accidents

    5. Communication:
    ? Maintain open and effective communication with project managers, construction crew, and other stakeholders
    ? Report project progress, challenges, and deviations from the plan to higher management
    • Assist with other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications:
    ? Must be able to pass background check and drug screening
    ? Active Drivers License required
    ? Certification or licensure as a heavy equipment operator
    ? Strong understanding of equipment maintenance and safety procedures
    ? Physical fitness and stamina to work in demanding outdoor conditions and operate heavy equipment for extended periods
    ? Effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
