Heavy Equipment Operator operates heavy equipment or machinery, such as a tractor, bulldozer, backhoe, or excavator, for the purposes of construction, demolition, or excavation. Prepares equipment and conducts routine inspections prior to operation to ensure it is safe and in working condition. Being a Heavy Equipment Operator identifies and addresses potential hazards and adheres to all safety protocols and regulations. May be responsible for scheduling minor repairs and conducting routine maintenance like cleaning and lubricating. Additionally, Heavy Equipment Operator requires a high school diploma. May require State License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Heavy Equipment Operator independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors.     Our Heavy Equipment Operators operate a variety of equipment used for soil modification, soil stabilization, and pulverization projects. Simply put, we improve soil integrity and stability in order to provide the best possible foundation for overlying pavements.

    The Equipment Operator position is physically demanding and requires frequent climbing in and out of vehicles and heavy equipment; operating tools and controls; and lifting and moving heavy objects, tools, and materials. Operators are required to wear personal protective equipment and keep themselves in proper mental and physical condition to operate safely at all times. Operators can expect to be working outside in variable weather conditions nationwide.

    Compensation:

    $1,500 - $2,500 weekly

    Responsibilities:

    • Operate heavy equipment safely & efficiently
    • Maintain equipment to Rock Solid's high standards
    • Comply with all safety programs and procedures
    • Comply with all Federal, State, and local DOT and FMCSA regulations
    • Communicate clearly and professionally at all times
    • Conduct daily pre and post-inspections of the equipment and report any issues or problems for repair
    • Maintain clean, safe, and operable equipment including basic maintenance – fluids, greasing, cleaning, etc
    • Proficiency in using phone applications to enter project information and maintain proper paperwork and workflow

    Qualifications:

    • Class A CDL required
    • Minimum 21 years of age
    • Favorable work history (no recent major driving citations or violations and verifiable previous employment)
    • 1-year prior experience operating heavy equipment or driving a heavy truck
    • Pre-employment drug screen, FMCSA PSP, and MVR check required
    • Must be willing to travel for various lengths of time (2 months)
    • Must keep safety a top priority while also maintaining a sense of urgency to ensure the entire team's success
